This is a ZX Spectrum 48k text adventure that I developed using the Quill adventure writer software in 1984.

The game itself is a typical text adventure of the time, with the usual verb based commands (N, S, E, W, GET, LOOK, INVENTORY, etc).  It's set in a fantasy world and the title is very much the objective of the game!

I sent it to Gilsoft at the time, who agreed to publish it on a compilation tape.  However, as an arrogant 17 year old I turned them down because I thought I could make more money than they were offering elsewhere...

Obviously, it then sat in a box in the attic for forty years!

I've now rescued it and saved it as a .z80 snapshot file.

There is another box somewhere in the attic with a full walkthrough.  If I find it I'll scan it in and upload it as an extra document for those who get stuck.

Please don't feel obliged to make a payment!  My 17 year old self would be delighted, but I'm now just happy to finally publish the game (in a way that would have been utter science fiction forty years ago).

NOTE: Please excuse the spelling mistakes!  How I managed to spell 'hear' as 'here' more than once I'll never know.  If I'm able to rescue the original data file I will have a go at correcting them and republishing.

Thanks for the game, and I've got some gameplay here:

Wonderful news. It is always good to rescue these hidden gems in the attics. If one day you would like to tell what the experience was like, we would love to hear it and publish it in the pages of our CAAD magazine.

Congratulations.

When I get a chance, I'll add a devlog here with details of how I rescued it, along with my ongoing attempts to load the original Quill data files.

Do you want to drop me a line at joan at cibersheep dot com?

I may have something for you (sounds like a thread but it is not :D)
